Labor Rights

Workers in El Salvador and other Central American countries make minuscule salaries, a wealthy worker pulls about $20 a day. With these small funds, they also have no workers rights and protection.  Women especially have a hard time with rights and unionizing, and the lack of wages and child care also creates additional problems at home.

Little Known Help Zone is partnering with Salvadoran organizations to fund projects that assist women working in maquiladora factories or sweat shops. These initiatives provide classes for women with business skills, encourage unionization, and provide childcare and paid maternity leave.

Our partners include the Chirrepeco Tea Cooperative and Ormusa.

Little Known Help Zone worked on this project from 2016-2017.
