Local Community Donations

Little Known Help Zone is happy to share we made two community donations during this stressful time of Covid.

Feeding the community is of utmost importance, so we donated to Second Harvest Food Bank in the Lehigh Valley and Philabundance in Philadelphia, enough to feed families for a week in both cities.

Allentown and Philadelphia are facing food insecurity during these trying times, and it is so important no one goes hungry and everyone stays healthy.

Would you like to donate to these causes? Click the links and share what you can. Or, donate to one of your local food banks!

Monthly Classroom Project: South Philadelphia High School

This week, Little Known Help Zone was thrilled to visit another school for the monthly classroom project in Philadelphia, the South Philadelphia High School.

Located on Broad Street, this school is beautiful and noticeable with the gorgeous murals outside. They are diverse, bright, and inviting. Once inside, there are still more murals and art pieces decorating the halls.

I donated art supplies to the art teacher, as well as a ton of classroom and plant supplies to the ecology teacher.

I also got to see some of the school and learn about their student body. What used to be one of the largest high schools in Philadelphia now has 600 students, 50% as ESL students and Special Ed students.

Thank you to Janelle for arranging this!

Ludlow Elementary Classroom Visit

Right before Spring Break, Little Known Help Zone will be donating to Ludlow Elementary school as part of our monthly classroom project. This has been in motion since March, for our March school, and is finally coming to fruition this April.

Ludlow is located in Old Kensington, Philadelphia, and is a Philadelphia School District Public School. Ludlower serves approximately 400 students in grades Pre-K through 8th grade.  Seventy two percent of Ludlow students are African American, twenty one percent are Latino, two percent is Asian, one percent Caucasian, and four percent are multicultural. Twenty seven percent of our students receive special education services.

This was a great school for LKHZ, and we are donating to not 1, but three classrooms! This includes a 5th grade, 3rd grade, and 2nd grade class! Some items include pencils, notebooks, craft supplies, and cleaning supplies. These are essential for the school’s success, and many people often forget that even near the end of the year, classroom supplies is needed.

Stay tuned for photos and information about the visit next week!

Shoot for the Stars Bracelet

At Little Known Help Zone, we believe in shooting for the stars. That’s why each supplies kit we donate includes personalized items for the children to be empowered in their education and reach success. The new Shoot for the Stars bracelet il_794xN.1806968478_pby4.jpgon the Etsy shop reminds everyone to do just that; embrace their potential for success. In addition to that, it raises money for our monthly classroom project!

This handmade piece is a mixed metal chain bracelet with silver star beads and a lobster clasp. The dangle is delicate and light, and the stars shine.

So head to the etsy shop and do some shopping.

Monthly Classroom Project: Esperanza Charter Academy

On Monday, Little Known Help Zone paid a visit to the Esperanza Charter Academy, donating to the 2nd grade classrooms. The kids were out on a field trip that day, but it was great to see the North Philadelphia facility and meet some of the administrative staff and leaders.

This growing charter school is devoted to its students success, and we were happy to donate to three different classrooms!

Camelot KAPS Donation

Today was a wonderful day at the Camelot KAPS school in Germantown, PA. We visited and donated over 100 items for their 100 students valued at over $300. This was the latest installment of our classroom project.

Mr. Luke, the music and arts teacher, was kind enough to allow me to visit, meet some of his students, and see the facility. I had a wonderful time and it is always inspiring to make a tangible difference in Philadelphia!
