This semester, Bryn Mawr’s Little Known Help Zone had some great accomplishments. We can’t wait to put the money we made to good use and donate next semester, we raised over $200!
-Hosted our second annual yoga class event and raffle, spreading relaxation and positivity while raffling off a Mom’s Organic Market.
-Held a bingo event that shared information about human rights in Central America and gave away amazing prizes, including a donation of a membership to the Bryn Mawr Film Institute.
-Posted a banner in the campus center, asking for students to reflect on what they are thankful for around Thanksgiving while spreading the word about our organization
-Had a stand at the Staff Association Craft Fair, selling recycled gifts for the holidays.
Check out some pictures!
Finishing off the year strong, this was the second time we had a stand at the Bryn Mawr Staff Association craft fair. This is a wonderful event that really brings the community together. We sold items that are on the Etsy shop (that will be up and running again soon) and had a really successful time getting the word out. Here is a picture of our set up, and stay tuned for an end of the semester update, as well as what is to come next semester!
We would also like to thank a Public Speaking Class at Penn State University for their choice to make a class donation to Little Known Help Zone.
Little Known Help Zone will be at the local flea market, 31st Street in Emmaus on Saturday the 16th starting at 8am (weather permitting). This will be a summer fundraiser for the organization to raise money for events and causes.
At this sale, all the items from the Etsy shop will be for sale, as well as books, and a new item that will soon be on the shop, lime wax melts!
If you’re local, stop by, and if not, purchase on Etsy!
This semester was the first of the Bryn Mawr Little Known Help Zone club. The main goal this semester was to spread awareness about the club on campus and gain excitement, enthusiasm, and club members.
This semester the club…
-Presented and recruited at Community Day of Learning
-Hosted a preorder bake sale, baked, and sold more goods afterwards, raising over $50
-Held a yoga ball chair raffle, raising $80 on the chair and getting people interested in the last event of the semester
-Hosted a yoga class to relieve stress before finals, and had a large turnout
-Elected members for next year
Over the summer, the club will start to plan events and write bylaws for next semester.
Little Known Help Zone donated $175.00 to Brenda Johana, paying for her graduation. Brenda’s family was struggling to afford these fees, and without the payment, Brenda cannot graduate. LKHZ’s biggest goal is to see student reach success, so this was the perfect gift. The fees cover renting and decorating a venue, a celebratory lunch, and the graduation paperwork. This is a big day worth celebration.
Brenda will graduate after the 2016 school year, making her family and Little Known Help Zone proud.
