LKHZ’s New Initiative

When Little Known Help Zone was started, it sprang from injustice, compassion, and passion. A 14 year old girl with the drive to make a difference. Something that I always heard when I was younger was “more young kids need to do things like this.” I spoke about it too. Organizations would bring me in as a nonprofit founder and I would be this teenage figure that should inspire others.

I’m 22 now, and while my big campaigns have filled me with joy, I’m starting graduate school and a job, and I don’t have 3 hours to drive into Philly traffic and donate pencils. Instead, I want to take Little Known Help Zone to a new level, supporting kids and their service projects.

I want to sustain the way I felt and inspire others.

This will be done through Color Creates a Brighter Future, my children’s coloring book that teaches kids how to recognize inequality and make a difference in their world.

LKHZ will be reading the book different places, giving children bookmarks that are a guide to starting their own service projects, and hosting a bi-yearly grant contest to support service initiatives!

We’re excited for this new initiative, as all great things evolve to shine light in the world, LKHZ has too.

New Changes to Little Known Help Zone

After 6 years of active fundraising and trips to Central America, Little Known Help Zone has donated over $10,000 to vital causes including children’s education, animal rights, labor rights, and more. This has been an incredible accomplishment, and we have no intentions of stopping our travels and efforts.

In all of these years, LKHZ was so steadfast in supporting education abroad, we were blind to the needs of education in the states. No system is perfect, and Little Known Help Zone is ready to devote time and resources to improving children’s educational resources within the states.

School supplies, though a small piece to the larger puzzle, can make a major difference in the lives of children domestically and abroad. Often overlooked, having the right tools to succeed is the first step to feeling more confident and prepared.

After speaking at PETE&C, founder Makenna Lenover has truly seen the passion teachers have for education and wants to not only support students, but teachers in their passion for learning. Learning materials are one of the keys to a more student based learning experience that is memorable and impactful.

Little Known Help Zone will be partnering with schools to provide school supplies for students in financial hardship and teachers in classrooms while continuing our work abroad.
