Just in time for Christmas, LKHZ utilized the money from December successes to donate a bed to sponsored student Julio’s family. Right now, the family of 5 shares 2 beds, so this extra bed will be a huge relief for the family. For $170, Julio will receive a bed and a mattress, made by the organization Mayan Families’ workshop (that also commissions other young Mayan students in the trade craft of furniture making, supplying them with a skill and income).
If you would like to give back this holiday season, consider donating a set of sheets for $25 to Julio’s family as well. Comment below or email to learn how to donate.
The newest addition to the Etsy shop are Key of Hope Necklaces. These necklaces are made from vintage keys and come in a variety of styles! They sell for $10 a piece and all the money is contributed to the scholarship fund for children in Guatemala.

LKHZ’s sponsored student, Brenda Johana, is graduating from high school. She plans on working to support her family. We are so proud of her accomplishments, and the theme of the LKHZ interest meeting was a graduation party.
The event both celebrated her graduation and garnered interest for starting a Bryn Mawr College LKHZ club. For the club, there were informational sheets, a sign up sheet, and a raffle to win a key bracelet. To enter the raffle, guests could either follow on twitter or like on Facebook.
To celebrate the graduation, there was a card for guests to sign, mini cupcakes, sparkling lemonade, and festive paper products!
The meeting was during finals week, but the turnout needed for starting a club was met.

On December 3rd, Little Known Help Zone had a stand at the Bryn Mawr College Alumnae Association Holiday Craft festival. The fair was 4 hours long, and Little Known Help Zone had a huge success.
Items at the stand included crayons, key necklaces, tab bracelets, Salvadoran shell rings, and other items seen at past fairs. The total made was over $200, triple the goal!
This money is going to go towards purchasing a bed for sponsored student Julio, right now he shares a bed with his 3 other siblings.
