While all three causes of Little Known Help Zone are of equal importance, this season specific focus will be placed on education in Guatemala, specifically the formation of a scholarship fund. For the Guatemalan 2016 school year, 2 students, one boy and one girl in high school, are sponsored. In addition to the school sponsorship, one outside family need will be donated to these students.
Once the 2017 school year arrives, the scholarship plan is as follows:
-4 males, 4 females will be fully sponsored for a year of education.
-2 students from each schooling level will be supported, preschool, elementary school, middle school, and high school.
-These 8 students, in addition to full school sponsorship, will receive a donation for one additional need of the family.
-This scholarship will then follow a legacy, hopefully supporting the same students years to come so they graduate and their family situation is made better.
For example, Julio Cesar is supported for the 9th grade in 2016 and will be receiving an additional donation to help his family. As Julio enters the 10th grade in 2017, he will receive the same support and additional donation until he graduates. This insures graduation of students.
To accomplish this ambitious scholarship, funds will need to be raised over the 2015-2016 season to substantiate the scholarship fund and make this dream a reality. One of the students Little Known Help Zone sponsored, Claudia Maria, has decided to graduate early from high school and get a job to help support her family, which is currently struggling with an income of $11 a day. As much as it would be beautiful to see Claudia continue with University, it is a huge success to see Claudia be the first in her family and we are all very proud.
This means the student sponsorship needed to be transferred to someone else. Little Known Help Zone chose the last high school student in need of sponsorship, Anibal Oswaldo
Anibal Osvaldo is in 10th grade in 2015. He enjoys accounting class and likes playing soccer. His parents, Victor and Evangelina, work hard to give their children the opportunities they themselves didn’t have. Anibal has one brother and two sisters.
